Double Masters 2022 - Top Shelf Co. Break

Double Masters 2022 - Top Shelf Co. Break

With the release of the much-anticipated Double Masters 2022 set finally out, consumers want to make sure the set is not only living up to the hype, but more so is it worth putting their money towards. WOTC has already stated that they are planning on adjusting pack prices due to rising inflation. So now it is becoming paramount that magic players feel they are not wasting their money on something they could have put towards elsewhere and get more value.

While it is true there are tons of wonderful reprints inside this set such as:

>Dockside Extortionist (already a semi-controversial card that many people assumed was going to be included in Baldur’s Gate)
>Teferi’s protection
>Sensei’s Divining Top

You have to acknowledge that out of all the reprints, rare’s account for most of the reprints inside the set, a total of which is 120 rares within which are still of course plenty of great and playable cards, but that also means the opposite is true. Which, well of course not every rare card should be valued at such a high price because packs would start to become more expensive than they already are. So for a lot of people, the cost of $18-20 per draft booster pack is simply out of their price range, and begins to turn into a risky gamble.

There are however great cards reprinted in this set, some of which are very shocking to actually see get reprinted. For instance, highly sought after Mythics which haven’t been reprinted since the 1990’s such as Concordant Crossroads, Warrior’s Oath, and of course the oh so infamous Imperial Seal. Thus, it’s important to realize that most of the valuable cards you’ll find in Double Masters 2022 are Mythics, which isn’t much of a surprise, but further elevates the risk based on the chance of pulling them with such a large rare pool. So again, depending on your budget, buying a Double Masters 2022 draft pack may just not be worth that risk. With all of this being said, if you’ve got the cash burning a hole in your pocket, opening up a Double Masters 2022 pack whether it’s draft or collector, is about as exciting as it gets.

So what do you think about Double Masters 2022?

Do you think the cost of these packs are too expensive, or are you comfortable breaking based on the reprints you could potentially be getting?

Well, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity…check out Matt from Top Shelf Co breaking a Collector booster and see how he did!
