Top Shelf Spotlight: Beginning Observer

 

What’s up Digi-destined! Those of you that saw the 02 Movie this spring will be happy to know that our latest set BT – 16: Beginning Observer is out! So, grab your deck and let’s battle, while we go over some of the new additions to the card game. 

 

NEW ACES: 

 

The spotlight shines on four magnificent ACE Digimon, each ready to unleash their power on the battlefield. Among them stands the legendary Imperialdramon Fighter Mode (FM), a force to be reckoned with. Those of you that like strip decks will be eating good this set. ID:FM can blast on fighter mode and bottom deck anything with less Digi-evolution sources than it. Toss in one Vikemon Ace and you can delete any Digimon with 1 or less Digi-evolution cards, the amount of control it provides is wild! 

 

SP: Variants 

This set they’re bringing SP (Secret Promotional) variants of cards, some of the bigger hits in the set have 3 to 4 variants! Valkyrimon ACE, GranKuwagamon ACE, and Vikemon ACE are stunning alternate art versions of their respective Mega-level Digimon. I especially hope I get my bug boy GranKuwagamon. 

 

My Decks for the set: 

Like Willis’s screentime in the 02 movie, let’s wrap these decks up in half a second! This set I am currently playing 3 decks, Magnamon X, Rapidmon X and Tyrant Kabuterimon, as you can see, I definitely have a favorite color (It’s green). 

 

Magnamon (X - Antibody): [Armor Forms]

The main theme of this deck is switching armor forms! Magnamon is an exceptionally safe deck with the mechanic armor purge [If a Digimon would be deleted in battle, trash top Digi evolution card instead of dying] the new Magnamon X is the absolute highlight as it has inherited blocker and gets +3000 DP until end of your opponent's turn and UNSUSPENDS. But that’s not all. Every turn during all turns that effect goes off if something with free is removed from security, making it borderline indestructible. Pairing this with rocket punch, you can get an explosive 3 security checks in one turn! 

 

Rapidmon (X Antibody): [Double Typhoon Upgrades]

This is an upgrade to the ST-17 starter deck double typhoon! I personally love rapidmon as a character and absolutely love this deck to bits, like Magnamon X, it also primarily plays around armor purge, but the unique gimmick of the deck is that both Megagargomon and Rapid X can digivolve off level 4’s making its tempo to level 6 exponentially higher! This deck swings fast and hard, with DP reduction to the board and security, if you don’t stop it in its tracks, you’ll be swept up by its tempo! 

 

 

Tyrant Kabutarimon

The Final deck I want to show off today is tyrant Kabuterimon, this deck is sensational, with its focus being a DP monster, every turn when you attack if a Digimon has less DP than you, it gets bottom decked, preventing it from on deletion effects, this deck really shines into armor form matchups and could actually stand to counter the current meta! This is however a deck I’ve theory crafted more than played, so we’ll have to see how it goes!
