Trench Crusade's next big release, the Carcass Front box set, is almost here - releasing Monday, August 31st, 2026, and it's packing a lot more than miniatures. Whether you've never rolled a D6 in your life or you've got a warband list memorized down to the last ducat, this box has something built specifically for you.
We're huge fans of Trench Crusade's grim, WWI-flavored trench warfare and streamlined rules, and this is our first Trench Crusade post on the blog - so we wanted to kick things off with a full rundown of what's actually inside the box. And stick around to the end, because we're throwing a Carcass Front Launch Party on September 2nd to celebrate!
New Players: This Is the Easiest On-Ramp Yet
If you've been eyeing Trench Crusade but weren't sure where to jump in, Carcass Front is designed to be the most beginner-friendly release the game has ever had. The box comes with two complete 700-ducat starter warbands, 16 miniatures in total, each with a couple of pre-built list options, plus a stack of extras aimed squarely at people who are new to tabletop wargaming in general, not just new to this game:
- A quickstart rules reference sheet
- Two premade intro warband lists (3 models each) with simplified rules
- A custom intro scenario built around the terrain included in the box
- Colored dice, including red D6 for Blood Markers and a special white D6 for the Stigmatic Nun's Blessing Markers
- Measuring tools and status tokens - rulers, activation/down markers, Tough tokens, and fireteam numbers
Basically, everything you need to sit down and play your first game is already in the box.
Existing Players: New Toys Across the Board
Veteran commanders aren't left out - Carcass Front adds a genuine pile of new content on top of the beginner-focused material:
- New Patrons tied to the box's two narrative leads, Blessed Bartolomeo and War Priest Charon, available to Faithful and Fallen warbands respectively, plus a bonus Patron (the House of Wisdom) for Iron Sultanate players
- The Procession of the Sacred Affliction and the Heretic Naval Raiders are being promoted from warband variants into full warband lists, with new battlekit, ability tweaks, and two new variants each
- Rules for two new terrain pieces: the Levant Hedgehog and Naval Mines
- Five brand-new scenarios set in key locations of the Carcass Front
Two New Ways to Play
This is where Carcass Front really flexes: it introduces two entirely new game modes.
The Path to Leviathan is a narrative campaign that strings the five new scenarios into a two-player story about the raising of Leviathan, the central event of the Carcass Front storyline. It can be run on its own or folded into a standard campaign.
The Carcass Front campaign system is a new map-based campaign for 2–8 players, playable across 4, 8, or 12 games. It reworks the core campaign rules with secret per-player objectives, warband base-building, and extra ways to earn Campaign Victory Points. The heart of the system is a resource economy built around four categories:
- Favour:Â reputation with your Patron or Faction
- Relics:Â artefacts and secrets uncovered on the front
- Supplies:Â the ammo and rations keeping your warband alive
- Territories:Â ground held and local connections built
Earning resources unlocks exploration tables, camp building upgrades, and Victory Points - and a hidden Patron Vision card might just steer your strategy in a direction you didn't expect.

We're celebrating the release with Trench Crusade: Learn to Play/Launch Party: Baptism of Fire! This is a focused, beginner-friendly introduction to the game, run by experienced Trench Crusade players who'll walk you through the core rules, the dice, and how to survive your first turn in the trenches.
